The Administrative Deputy Governor of Basra, Maher Ibrahim Al-Amiri, announced on Friday (May 8, 2026) that he has addressed the Ministry of Finance regarding the funding of salaries for contractors within 13,000 job positions, based on the directives of Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani.

Al-Amiri explained that he sent an official letter to the ministry requesting approval to fund the current account of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department - Salaries at Rafidain Bank - Basra Branch, with an amount exceeding 23 billion dinars, to secure the salaries of contractors according to their respective commencement dates per the attached lists.

He noted that all previous requirements have been completed, pointing out that the government pension contribution rate of 12% has reached approximately 2.7 billion dinars.

This move comes within a series of continuous measures taken by Basra Governorate to ensure the disbursement of entitlements for contractors appointed within the framework of the 13,000 positions, which is one of the largest job batches launched in the governorates in recent years.
