Nineveh Governorate witnessed ceremonies commemorating the anniversary of the genocide against the Yazidi community, with broad official and popular attendance to emphasize societal unity and the rejection of terrorism and extremism. The ceremonies included urgent demands to expedite the resolution of files concerning mass graves and abducted individuals, in addition to providing the necessary financial allocations to reconstruct the Sinjar district. Local officials stressed that doing justice to the victims requires practical measures, including the release of deserved compensation, the activation of stabilization programs, and restricting arms to the state to encourage the voluntary return of displaced persons. Attendees also emphasized the importance of embedding a culture of peaceful coexistence, preserving the memory of the victims, and ensuring justice to prevent the recurrence of such heinous crimes in the future.
