Economic expert Dureid Al-Anzi warned that current financial policies are casting a heavy shadow on the Iraqi citizen, affirming that recent government measures lack fundamental solutions to entrenched economic crises. Al-Anzi stated in press remarks that the citizens' file suffers from complete neglect, and that adopted policies have not yielded positive reflections on economic sectors or citizens' living standards. He criticized the mechanism of transferring government department revenues to the Ministry of Finance at a rate of 99%, considering it a "suspicious and erroneous" policy that complicates financial resource management. He warned that imposing additional internal taxes and fees amid an economy suffering from weak industrial and agricultural production and declining import activity will directly impact commodity prices, thereby exacerbating living pressures on low-income earners and poor segments.
