Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani chaired today, Monday (May 4, 2026), a meeting of the Economic Ministerial Council to discuss several important economic files.

The council reviewed a number of topics related to the agricultural sector, demands received from farmers, proposals submitted by agricultural associations, in addition to proposals from the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade.

During the meeting, a set of recommendations was approved, including immediate payment of farmers' dues upon marketing the current year's wheat crop, as well as discussing the marketing prices file, harvest quantities, irrigation methods, and prices of provided seeds.

The council issued a decision to lift the ban on importing table eggs, aiming to maintain prices of basic food commodities in the markets, and tasked the special committee with presenting recommendations on this matter within a specified period.
