Environmental authorities have issued warnings about the potential continuation and recurrence of the foul odor phenomenon in the skies of the capital, Baghdad, attributing it to the lack of radical and proactive solutions for pollution sources. Environmental reports clarified that the primary causes lie in sulfur emissions from industrial and oil facilities, unlicensed factories on the outskirts of the capital, as well as the indiscriminate burning of waste. The reports criticized the delayed response of official entities, emphasizing the necessity of taking strict and deterrent measures to curb these emissions, which are negatively affecting public health and extending their impact to neighboring governorates.
