The European Commission has officially begun enforcing strict transparency rules regarding Artificial Intelligence systems, threatening massive financial fines for non-compliant entities. The new directives compel companies and institutions to clearly label content generated or modified by AI technologies, aiming to combat deepfakes and protect the public. The EU has adopted specific icons to denote tech-generated content, which will include images, videos, and audio that simulate real people or events. The mandate also extends to emotion recognition and biometric categorization tools, as well as automated texts unreviewed by humans, with a requirement to notify users when interacting with automated chatbots. Non-compliant companies face severe fines of up to 15 million euros or a percentage of their annual revenue, reflecting Europe's seriousness in regulating AI applications.
