Government Efforts to Develop and Expand the Health Insurance System in Basra

Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani called on Saturday (May 23, 2026) for the development of implementation mechanisms for the health insurance system in the governorate. He affirmed that this system is a fundamental pillar in ensuring citizens receive necessary medical care when facing health crises and serious diseases. Al-Eidani explained that the local government fully supports efforts to elevate this vital file, which is adopted globally. He pointed out that government health institutions in the governorate possess the adequate infrastructure and capabilities to accommodate beneficiaries and implement the system efficiently. He emphasized the importance of moving forward with expanding the coverage and developing the health sector to guarantee the provision of high-quality medical services to citizens.
