Basra witnessed the signing of memorandums of understanding with major investment companies to establish a free industrial and commercial zone adjacent to the Grand Faw Port, which has reached final stages in constructing the first five berths. This expansion aims to transform the port from a container discharge station into a global logistics center featuring assembly and re-export factories. The port director confirmed that the infrastructure being implemented is designed to accommodate the world's largest container ships, reducing shipping costs and increasing trade efficiency. These projects are expected to transform Basra into a regional economic capital, attracting more foreign direct investment and creating thousands of diverse job opportunities.
