An informed source revealed on Thursday (May 7, 2026) that Iraqi pilgrims have begun receiving their supplies designated for the Hajj season from distribution centers of the Hajj and Umrah Commission in Baghdad and the provinces.
The source explained that the distributed items included a toothbrush, a sun umbrella, and toothpaste of very basic quality, with a wholesale market value not exceeding 500 Iraqi dinars.
Pilgrims expressed, through their appeals, their astonishment at the poor quality of these items, especially since Hajj costs for this year reached approximately seven million dinars, considering these supplies symbolic and inconsistent with the amounts paid.
The Hajj file in Iraq annually witnesses discussions regarding the quality of services provided, ranging from accommodation and catering to organization, transportation, and the basic supplies received by pilgrims.
