Sources at the Kirkuk Health Directorate revealed on Thursday (May 7, 2026) that strict precautionary measures have been taken following the suspected infection of a woman in her forties with hemorrhagic fever, prompting her isolation at a government hospital.

The source stated that the woman was placed in quarantine upon suspicion of her condition, and she is being handled in accordance with epidemic disease prevention protocols.

He added that the patient's condition remains unstable, while samples have been collected and sent to central laboratories in Baghdad for necessary testing to accurately determine the nature of the infection.

He noted that the case is being treated as a suspected case only, with no confirmed diagnosis at this time, explaining that test results are expected to be released today, which will definitively resolve the health situation.
