Iranian Kurdish Opposition Denounces UN Silence Over Attacks

The Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties issued a strongly worded statement on Monday (April 20, 2026), condemning the "silence and passivity" of the United Nations mission in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region regarding repeated attacks by Iran-backed militias against its headquarters and members in northern Iraq. The alliance called on the international organization to assume its humanitarian and security responsibilities, holding it partially responsible for "encouraging the Iranian regime to commit more aggression and terror." These appeals come after three members of the Iranian Kurdish opposition were killed and five others wounded in missile and drone strikes carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on April 18, targeting opposition camps in various areas of the Kurdistan Region.
