Economic expert Saleh Al-Khafaji confirmed that Iraq remains an attractive environment for investment due to its natural resources and strategic geographical location. However, the influx of foreign and local investors is still hindered by several obstacles. Al-Khafaji explained that the energy, construction, agriculture, and industry sectors are among the most promising. Yet, outdated banking infrastructure and corruption remain major stumbling blocks to development. He emphasized the need to pass legislation that boosts investor confidence and limits extortion, stressing that diversifying the economy and moving away from total reliance on oil revenues is a crucial step to avoid global market fluctuations and achieve an economic recovery that creates widespread employment opportunities.
