Relevant government authorities in Iraq and Syria have concluded a joint technical protocol aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the management of water resources and the exchange of technical and statistical data. The signing of the agreement came at the conclusion of official talks held in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of high-level technical delegations from both countries. The discussions focused on prospects for joint coordination, particularly regarding the management of shared river basins and the development of monitoring mechanisms. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustaining direct technical dialogue to exchange expertise and support institutional efforts, ensuring sustainable water management and preserving the water rights of both nations.
