dijlahpoint - The General Customs Authority announced the receipt of the first international transit shipment loaded on an Iraqi truck carrying a local Iraqi TIR Carnet, travelling from Turkey toward the United Arab Emirates.
The authority stated that this achievement was realized through coordination between its Transit Division and the Kurdistan Region Customs, in cooperation with the Turkish side and the International Road Transport Union (IRU).
It emphasized that this step represents significant progress in developing Iraq's transit sector and enhancing the country's position as a commercial corridor connecting regional and international markets, as well as opening new horizons for national transport companies.
It added that continuous efforts are being made to simplify customs procedures and facilitate transit traffic, contributing to reduced operational costs, enhanced supply chain efficiency, and boosted non-oil revenues.
