Iraq to Launch 1,250 MW Power Interconnection Lines with Neighboring Countries Before Summer

The Ministry of Electricity confirmed that power interconnection projects with neighboring countries will enter service before the summer season, with a total capacity of 1,250 megawatts.

The ministry's spokesperson stated in a press statement that these projects come within the ministry's plan to diversify energy sources and improve supply efficiency, especially during peak demand periods in the summer.

He explained that imported energy quantities through interconnection lines will amount to approximately 600 megawatts from Turkey, 500 megawatts in the first phase of interconnection with Gulf countries, in addition to 150 megawatts from Jordan.

He noted that these quantities will be fully pumped into the national grid and distributed according to need, covering the southern and northern regions, as well as Anbar Governorate and the capital.
