The Iraqi Council of Ministers has decided to suspend official working hours in all ministries and government institutions next Thursday, coinciding with the commemoration of the tenth of Muharram, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him). Ashura is one of the most prominent religious occasions commemorated by millions. Iraqi provinces, particularly Karbala, Najaf, Baghdad, and the southern provinces, witness the holding of mourning councils and Hussaini processions. In this context, security and service agencies have raised their readiness levels to secure the movement of pilgrims and provide necessary services during this occasion.
