Marine Fuel Leak from Emirati Tanker Following Iranian Attack Near Omani Coasts

The maritime tanker "MV Berka" belonging to the Emirati company ADNOC was attacked by two Iranian drones while crossing the Strait of Hormuz at the beginning of this May, resulting in a limited leak of marine fuel off the Omani coasts. The company confirmed in an official statement that the vessel remains anchored near the Omani coasts, that it was not carrying any cargo at the time of the attack, and that no injuries were recorded among crew members. It indicated that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities and technical experts. Satellite images captured on the 7th and 9th of May showed a trail behind the ship near the Omani Musandam Peninsula, which independent experts described as an oil slick, while specialists noted the disappearance of this slick in more recent images.
