Microsoft has released a new update granting Windows 11 users the ability to permanently and indefinitely pause system updates with a single click from the main settings menu, without the need for complex registry modifications.
This decision reflects a radical change and a notable reversal in the company's strict policy that previously forced users to receive periodic updates. The new system provides users and businesses with a level of control and flexibility not available since the release of Windows 8, as part of a new strategy aimed at appeasing consumers frustrated by mandatory updates.
This move follows mounting complaints about system crashes and data loss caused by automatic updates, in addition to privacy concerns arising from the company forcing integrated AI features in recent patches. Consequently, Microsoft was compelled to offer a voluntary opt-out option for these features.
