Ministry of Electricity Forms a Central Emergency Room to Address Summer and Major Pilgrimage Challenges

Minister of Electricity Ali Saadi Wuhaib directed on Saturday (May 23, 2026) the formation of a central emergency room to prepare for the challenges of the summer season and the requirements of the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The move aims to ensure the stability of the electrical grid and maintain power supply during peak hours. The emergency room includes the generation, transmission, and distribution sectors and is tasked with developing an urgent action plan to monitor loads, resolve bottlenecks, and enhance the readiness of power stations and networks. During his meeting with the committee members, the Minister emphasized the necessity of rapid field deployment to address technical and service issues, rather than relying solely on office-based monitoring. Committee members were also granted the necessary administrative and technical authorities to overcome obstacles and ensure smooth operations in light of upcoming challenges.
