The Ministry of Justice announced the completion of the first phase of the electronic bracelet project designed to regulate financial transactions for inmates within correctional facilities. In an official statement, the ministry explained that it has issued 3,000 electronic bracelets linked to special payment cards for inmates at the Nasiriyah Central Prison. This follows the completion of all technical and administrative requirements in collaboration with specialized banks. This step is part of the ministry's plan for digital transformation and service development in correctional institutions. The statement confirmed that this system will be implemented in all buying and selling operations inside prison commissaries, ensuring the accuracy and transparency of electronic financial transactions, and recording the value of purchases directly. The system aims to prevent price manipulation, ensure the application of official prices, and enforce strict oversight of the movement of funds within the prison. The ministry revealed plans to issue more electronic bracelets in the coming period to cover all inmates at the Nasiriyah prison, paving the way for expanding the project to include other prisons. It also called on the families of inmates to cooperate and adopt the new mechanism, which will facilitate and secure financial deposit operations for the inmates.
