Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudhair revealed a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at completely ending associated gas flaring by the end of 2028, confirming that the development of major gas fields, such as Mansuriya and Akkas, will pave the way for self-sufficiency and the cessation of imports. Concurrently, the Minister announced Iraq's initiative to construct a strategic pipeline network designed to diversify oil export outlets and reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz. He explained that memorandums of understanding have been signed with an international consortium to study the construction of a pipeline linking Basra to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, with potential future expansions to the ports of Baniyas and Aqaba, thereby ensuring the stability and security of Iraqi oil exports.
