Navigational Data: 81 Ships Bypass Restrictions and Successfully Transit Hormuz Strait

Recent navigational analyses revealed on Saturday (May 2, 2026) that dozens of commercial ships successfully bypassed the recent US restrictions imposed on maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the data, 81 ships crossed the strait out of 145 that attempted the transit since the measures took effect in mid-April, accounting for 56% of total traffic. The transit list included 53 ships directly or indirectly linked to Iran, among them 11 vessels on US sanctions lists. Reports disclosed that many ships resorted to turning off tracking devices to evade detection, while peak traffic was recorded on April 28 with 10 ships crossing simultaneously. This occurs amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, alongside intense US naval reinforcements in the region.
