Over 600 Attacks Targeted US Facilities in Iraq During War with Iran

A press report, quoting a senior official at the US State Department, revealed today, Wednesday (May 6, 2026), that US facilities in Iraq were subjected to more than 600 attacks during the war with Iran.

The US Embassy in Baghdad renewed its warnings that Iraqi factions allied with Iran are still planning to carry out new attacks targeting American citizens and interests in various areas of Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region. It pointed out that some parties within Iraqi state institutions still provide political, financial, and operational support to these groups.

US officials affirmed that Washington is waiting for Baghdad to take practical and tangible steps to prove its seriousness in separating the state from these factions, by expelling their elements from institutions, stopping their funding, and cutting the salaries of their fighters, especially with US officials following up on the file of Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi.

The report revealed that at least 16 US military sites in the Middle East were damaged due to recent Iranian strikes, sites that are considered of strategic importance, raising questions about the future of the US military presence in the region and the course of confrontation with Iran.
