Dijlah Point - Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, MP Ahmed Karim Al-Delfi, confirmed the committee's and the parliament's determination to proceed with amending the service and retirement law for the Internal Security Forces and the Ministry of Defense, ensuring the rights of the personnel. Al-Delfi rejected the National Retirement Board's condition of setting the optional retirement age at 45, stating that this would render the amendment meaningless and deprive a large number of personnel of its benefits. He clarified that the committee insists on reducing the age requirement to 40 while maintaining the condition of 15 years of actual service. The amendment also includes adjusting the nominal salary and adding food allowances to improve retirement income. Al-Delfi noted that these changes will equally apply to both Interior and Defense ministries' personnel, emphasizing that prioritizing the personnel's rights is paramount, and objecting parties may resort to the judiciary after the law is enacted.
