President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani arrived today, Monday (May 4, 2026), in the capital Baghdad on an official two-day visit, to meet leaders of the Coordination Framework at the home of State of Law Coalition leader Nouri Al-Maliki.

The visit came within the framework of ongoing political meetings between the parties, to discuss several files related to forming the upcoming government and examining the latest developments in the country's political scene.

A statement from the Region's Presidency indicated that Barzani will hold a series of meetings and discussions with leaders and senior officials in the federal government and political forces during the visit, to discuss the file of forming the new federal government.

The statement added that the discussions will address the nature of relations between Erbil and Baghdad, ways to enhance joint cooperation, as well as discussing a number of files and issues of common interest on the national scene.
