Proposed Traffic Law Amendments Include Reducing Fines and Regulating Vehicle Tinting

Traffic authorities have unveiled a package of new proposals to amend the traffic law, aiming to ease the financial burden on citizens. The proposed modifications include abolishing the fine-doubling system, reducing traffic fines by half, and imposing strict penalties of up to half a million dinars for severe violations like driving against the flow of traffic. The draft also sets new maximum speed limits on highways and external roads, ranging from 100 to 140 kilometers per hour. Regarding vehicle window tinting, authorities proposed allowing a tint level of 20 to 30 percent free of charge under official guidelines, while standardizing and recognizing these procedures across all provinces. These steps are part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance sustainable traffic security, noting that the country records low rates of traffic accidents compared to regional averages.
