A new round of official talks has commenced between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, aiming to reach fundamental settlements regarding outstanding financial files, primarily securing employee salaries and the region's financial dues. A high-level delegation from Erbil began extensive meetings in the capital, Baghdad, with officials from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Supreme Audit. The delegation's discussions are spearheaded by the issue of stalled financial funding, particularly after the challenges the region faced in committing to the handover of agreed-upon local revenues due to recent economic shifts. The talks also address the mechanisms for implementing the Financial Management Law, as well as discussing contentious points regarding the "ASYCUDA" system for automating customs work, in an effort to reach a consensus that transparently guarantees the rights of both parties.
