The agency said that the main pipeline, which is considered one of Saudi Arabia's most important economic infrastructures, was hit by a strike from an unknown source, with columns of smoke seen rising from its location in satellite images.

It added that the Saudi East-West pipeline has become a vital line for the Saudi economy after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, as Saudi Aramco uses it to transport oil to the Red Sea in the west and export it to international markets away from the closed strait.

It is worth noting that the Saudi government declined to comment on the attack, neither denying nor confirming it, after Reuters contacted it.
