South Gas Company: Bin Umar Project is Strategic, Not Just a Pipeline, Boosting Output by 100 Million SCF

The South Gas Company issued an official clarification today, Friday (May 1, 2026), regarding the accelerated gas project at the Bin Umar field, denying claims that reduce the project to "merely rerouting a 5 km pipeline." The company confirmed that the tie-in works are part of an integrated system to utilize associated gas that was previously flared with no economic benefit. It explained the project aims to process 70 to 80 million standard cubic feet per day to produce 55 million SCF of dry gas for power stations, along with commercial quantities of liquid gas and condensates. The company stressed that its official documents and field meter readings prove a production increase of up to 100 million SCF per day. South Gas invited media and concerned parties to visit the worksite for on-site verification of the figures, warning against misleading media excerpting, and demanding complete data publication before reporting.
