dijlahpoint - The Supreme Judicial Council affirmed on Sunday, September 13, 2026, that the rule of law represents the fundamental cornerstone of state-building and the consolidation of state institutions while safeguarding rights and freedoms.

In a statement issued on the occasion of International Law Day, the Council noted that the rule of law is the foundation for achieving justice and equality among all members of society.

The statement added that the Iraqi judiciary renews its commitment to fulfilling its constitutional mission of upholding the law, protecting rights and freedoms, and entrenching the principles of justice, thereby enhancing citizens' trust in state institutions and establishing the principle that all are subject to the law without discrimination.
