Iraqi parliamentary sources revealed severe violations and suspicions of corruption surrounding a government contract signed to supply the General Traffic Directorate in Anbar Province with 800 motorcycles. The sources explained that the total value of the contract exceeded 24 billion dinars, bringing the cost of a single motorcycle to figures equivalent to the price of a modern car. Technical and legal breaches were highlighted, as the contract stipulated importing the latest models, but those cleared through customs were older ones, in addition to ignoring the clause regarding technical training for the staff involved. Urgent calls were directed to regulatory and judicial authorities to open a comprehensive investigation, audit the referral and receipt procedures, and hold those involved in wasting public funds accountable.
