The three presidencies in Iraq announced today, Friday, the launch of a comprehensive national initiative for an expanded national dialogue that includes all political forces and parliamentary blocs, aimed at addressing the accumulated crises facing the country. A joint statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, the Council of Ministers, and the Council of Representatives said that the initiative targets overcoming the state of political deadlock and finding common ground for cooperation among all parties. The statement added that the dialogue will focus on essential files including economic reform, combating corruption, enhancing national security, and improving basic services provided to citizens. The statement called on all political blocs to actively participate in the dialogue sessions without preconditions, affirming that the doors are open to everyone. The preparatory sessions for the dialogue are scheduled to begin on May 10th next in Baghdad, and will continue for a full two months. Political observers see this initiative as coming at a sensitive time witnessing an escalation in disputes between some major blocs regarding budget allocations and security positions. The statement emphasized that the success of the initiative requires genuine political will and prioritizing the national interest over narrow partisan interests.
