Traffic Directorate Issues New Regulations and Fees for Vehicle Window Tinting

The Traffic Directorate has announced a new set of regulations allowing citizens to apply for vehicle window tinting, covering private, taxi, and cargo vehicles. The directorate clarified that the instructions also apply to vehicles bearing license plates from other provinces, provided they are registered under the name of a resident in the region, in addition to foreign vehicles entering according to the rules. The regulations stipulate a maximum tinting limit of 50% for taxis and buses, with a strict ban on tinting front and rear windows to ensure visibility and traffic safety. Annual tinting fees were set progressively: tinting up to 30% is exempt from fees provided the glass is original. Fees for tinting between 30% and 50% are set at 150,000 dinars, and for 50% to 80% at 300,000 dinars. Tinting exactly at 80% incurs a 500,000 dinar fee, while levels exceeding that cost one million dinars. The directorate warned that fines and legal penalties will be imposed on violators who tint their vehicle windows without obtaining official approvals.
