Human rights entities have issued urgent appeals to the federal government to expedite the resolution of water infrastructure repairs and secure adequate water quotas for Basra Governorate. Official statements warned of the severe repercussions of water cuts in vast areas, stressing the need for a rapid emergency plan to increase water releases and hold those who violate the allocated quotas accountable. Demands also included exempting residents from water consumption fees due to the poor quality, high salinity, and pollution levels.
