Military sources that the US Department of Defense is studying plans to deploy a combat brigade from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East to support ongoing military operations against Iran.

These planned moves, involving a 3,000-strong rapid response force, aim to provide strategic support and secure vital sites, such as Iran's Kharg oil island, should orders be issued.

The potential plan includes using US Marines for initial control and rehabilitation of airstrips to facilitate the transfer of equipment and additional troops, despite ongoing political discourse about negotiations to end the war.
