Medical and local sources reported on Wednesday the death of a civilian and the injury of 17 others following various traffic accidents in five governorates during the first day of the Eid al-Adha holiday. The sources indicated that the accidents, which occurred in the governorates of Baghdad, Diyala, Dhi Qar, Anbar, and Nineveh, affected civilians, security personnel, and civil servants. Medical reports clarified that some of the injured are receiving treatment in emergency wards in critical condition, attributing the causes of the accidents to excessive speed and wrong overtaking, coinciding with the usual traffic congestion during holidays, heavy travel between cities, and infrastructure challenges on some roads, alongside weak adherence to traffic rules.
