The Directorate of the Basra International Airport Border Crossing, affiliated with the Border Ports Commission, announced on Friday the foiling of an attempt to smuggle quantities of human medicines and medical supplies in the possession of an arriving passenger at the arrivals terminal. The Directorate explained that the seizure was the result of rigorous inspection and auditing procedures, which revealed that the passenger was carrying the medications without obtaining the required official approvals from the Ministry of Health, and without providing any medical reports proving that the quantity was for personal use. Authorities confirmed that an official seizure report was documented, and the passenger, along with the confiscated items, was referred to the airport police station to face the necessary legal actions.
