dijlahpoint - The Azerbaijani capital Baku adopted the Baku Declaration on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) at the conclusion of the seventh meeting of the Council of Heads of Religious Administrations of Muslims of the Organization of Turkic States, which called for promoting peace, openness, renouncing violence, and combating terrorism and extremism. The declaration included substantive provisions aimed at strengthening solidarity among the Turkic peoples and consolidating spiritual and cultural values, in addition to developing cooperation in religious education and scientific research and adopting joint fatwas. The document affirmed the commitment to combating terrorism, extremism, separatism, and manifestations of Islamophobia and Turkophobia as well as sectarian rhetoric, in addition to protecting the rights of women and children and disseminating the historical heritage of the Turkic world. For his part, Mufti Abdulaziz Zakirov, Chairman of the Muslim Administration of Kyrgyzstan, stressed in his address at the meeting that Islam calls for science, research and beneficial thinking, emphasizing the need to direct youth toward artificial intelligence, medicine and technology based on the historical contributions of Muslim scholars. In turn, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, noted during a ceremony honoring the scholar Sheikh Said Yahya Bakuvi that international events promoting religious stability and interfaith understanding through Islamic dialogue are an urgent necessity to confront contemporary threat factors such as terrorism and the misuse of religion.
