Civil Defense Extinguishes Massive Fire at Sponge Complex in Aden Square, Rescuing Four Workers

The Civil Defense Directorate announced its complete control over a massive fire that broke out inside a factory and several commercial shops specializing in the sale of sponges in the Aden Square area of the capital, Baghdad.

Upon receiving the alert, the Directorate immediately mobilized its crews to manage the incident. The response teams initiated rapid entry and intensive firefighting operations, successfully containing the flames and isolating them from adjacent warehouses and factories. This swift action prevented the fire from spreading further and averted danger from the surrounding area.

The Directorate confirmed the successful conclusion of all extinguishing and cooling operations. It noted that its detachments managed to rescue four workers who sustained injuries and suffered from asphyxiation due to dense gas emissions, with no fatalities recorded.

Authorities clarified that the site has been fully secured and all potential hazards removed, pending the release of a forensic evidence report to determine the exact causes that led to the outbreak of the fire.
