The Civil Defense Directorate announced that its teams successfully rescued and evacuated 50 citizens following a fire outbreak inside a building in the Karrada area of the capital, with no casualties reported. In an official statement, the directorate explained that the fire caused heavy smoke and gases to spread towards an adjacent residential building, necessitating the urgent intervention of 10 firefighting and rescue teams, supported by a hydraulic ladder truck, to control the blaze and prevent its spread. The rescue operations included the evacuation of trapped individuals, among them two people safely evacuated from atop a communication tower on the building's roof. Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated from the accumulation of oils inside a restaurant's exhaust duct before spreading to other parts of the building.
