Customs Thwarts Smuggling Attempt, Seizes Abandoned Medical Containers at Umm Qasr Port

The General Commission of Customs successfully thwarted a legal violation and seized two 40-foot containers abandoned at the dockyard of Umm Qasr Middle Port, immediately referring them to the competent judicial authorities. The Commission explained that the detachments of the Southern Region Customs Directorate, represented by the Investigation and Anti-Smuggling Department, discovered large quantities of various medical supplies inside the containers left under suspicious circumstances, including medical gloves and wound bandages. The competent authorities have initiated all necessary legal measures and issued a formal seizure record of the incident to ensure the protection of health and economic security.
