Official documents have revealed a significant disparity in the financial costs of constructing several government hospitals compared to their bed capacity. Data indicated the awarding of a contract to build a 50-bed hospital valued at 25 billion Iraqi dinars, meaning the cost per bed is approximately 500 million dinars. These figures raise serious questions about the alignment of costs with technical specifications, amid growing parliamentary and public demands to intensify oversight and review health infrastructure contracts to ensure optimal investment of public funds and improve the quality of medical services.
