dijlahpoint - The Iraqi National Security Agency announced on Friday (September 11, 2026) that it had dismantled a network specialized in drug trafficking and distribution in the capital Baghdad, arresting its six members and seizing around 3.5 kilograms of marijuana inside one of the network's warehouses.

The agency explained in a statement that the operation came as a result of intelligence and field efforts that began with information about one of the marijuana dealers, before tracking operations led to uncovering the network's extensions and reaching its warehouse.

It added that the agency's units, after obtaining judicial approvals from the competent investigating judge in Baghdad, managed to set an ambush for the first suspect and arrest him, after which tracking operations continued and resulted in the arrest of the rest of the network members.

The agency noted that investigations and field inquiries led to a marijuana warehouse hidden inside an abandoned house, which was raided and the seized quantity found inside was confiscated.

The agency confirmed that the suspects and the seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.
