Economic Expert Explains Why Local Projects Fail to Match the Efficiency of Foreign Companies in Iraq

Economic expert Ahmed Al-Tamimi attributed the successive government bodies' inability to keep pace with the speed and quality of project execution by foreign companies to accumulated structural problems, namely poor management, complex bureaucratic procedures, and the absence of comprehensive strategic planning. Al-Tamimi explained that the working environment inside Iraq imposes administrative, legal, and financial obstacles that limit the speed of completion. He pointed out that the multiplicity of decision-making bodies, delayed financial allocations, widespread administrative and financial corruption, and the lack of real feasibility studies are among the main reasons for the waste of public funds and the stalling of strategic projects. He stressed that Iraq's urban renaissance requires efficient management, modern contracting laws, and the activation of accountability to end the era of quotas and routine.
