Environmental Expert Proposes National Strategy to Revive Green Belts and Combat Desertification

Experts in the agricultural and environmental sectors have called for the adoption of a comprehensive scientific strategy to confront the growing threat of desertification and revive green belts across the country, following the loss of vast areas in recent years. The proposed initiative relies on planting specific types of trees highly adaptable to the harsh local climate and drought-resistant. It emphasizes the need to keep afforestation projects away from commercial interests, entrusting them instead to academic institutions and research centers to ensure their sustainability, marking a crucial step to mitigate the severe impacts of climate change and protect cities.
