dijlahpoint - The Green Iraq Observatory warned of the risks of the disappearance of the Baghdad Forests Project and its conversion into an investment activity that deviates from its core environmental objective, in the absence of actual indicators for the commencement of its construction works in its designated location within Al-Rashid Camp.
The observatory explained that the project, when announced, represented a vital breathing space for a capital suffering from widespread pollution resulting from industrial activities and transportation means, warning that random urban and investment expansion contributes to the decline of vegetation cover.
It emphasized the strategic importance of the Al-Rashid Camp site in reducing pollution and dust waves in the surrounding areas, calling for the necessity of preserving the environmental nature of the project and increasing green spaces in the capital.
