Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari directed on Monday the opening of an urgent and comprehensive investigation into the details of an altercation that occurred between a citizen and a traffic police officer in the Al-Mansour area of the capital, Baghdad.

An official statement issued by the Ministry indicated that the investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding Sunday's incident between a civilian vehicle driver and the traffic officer. It will also evaluate the accompanying actions, specifically the arrest carried out by the Rescue Police patrols at the scene.

The Minister emphasized the absolute necessity of verifying the facts with the utmost accuracy, confirming that strict legal measures will be taken against any party proven to be at fault or negligent. He clarified that the Ministry is firmly committed to enforcing the law and will not tolerate any behaviors that deviate from legal frameworks and official procedures, regardless of the source.
