The General Company for Iraqi Railways confirmed the continuous progress of execution works on the double-track railway project connecting Baghdad and Karbala, specifically within the (Yusufiyah - Mahmoudiyah) section, preparing it to enter actual service during the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage. The company's management, via Director General Maki Jabir, explained that the new track will increase the number of daily trips, reduce travel duration, and accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims, as the double-track layout allows simultaneous and smooth train movement in both directions without requiring stops for oncoming traffic.
