The capital, Baghdad, witnessed severe traffic jams that led to a near-total paralysis of movement and a significant slowdown of vehicles across a large number of vital streets and major intersections. The congestion was concentrated on expressways and strategic bridges, including the Dora Expressway, Mohammed Al-Qasim Expressway, and the Canal Expressway, in addition to major bridges such as Al-Jadriya, Al-Jumhuriya, Al-Sarafiyah, and Bab Al-Moatham. The traffic density also extended to vital areas like the Green Zone, Airport Road, Tahrir Square, and Al-Faris Square. These bottlenecks coincided with the morning rush hours, resulting in significant delays for employees and students reaching their workplaces and educational institutions.
