National Security Service Dismantles Networks Promoting Extremism and Inciting Strife in Baghdad and Karbala

The National Security Service executed qualitative preemptive operations in the capital, Baghdad, and the holy province of Karbala, resulting in the arrest of several suspects attempting to disrupt social peace and incite strife. The Service explained that the operations in Baghdad included apprehending individuals promoting extremist and terrorist ideologies via social media platforms, as well as others who attempted to desecrate religious rituals. In Karbala, the Service's detachments, in coordination with relevant authorities, successfully contained an assault incident involving foreign nationals, thereby preventing unrest among the pilgrims. All suspects have been referred to the competent judicial authorities for necessary legal action.
